I'm slowly starting to discover all the wonderful things in life, especially as you slowly come to the realization that you've been held back a bit. I don't blame that on my husband, it takes two for that, although I will say I did my best to at least have a social calendar. For a majority of the time, I think he just liked to sit around the house and I encouraged that. After months of being in that separated stage and more than a month of him completely gone, I realize that I was never quite satisfied with that and I never operated like that before. I'm realizing now that I actually do like to do a lot of things and am energized when I have things to attend.
Before, it was always an excuse to go to a rollergirl event and I enjoyed them a lot, to an extent I did have to go so my husband usually tagged along or just stayed at home. That was the extent of it. We didn't go to see movies, although I did agree with him on this point that neither of us liked going to the movie theater.
I've actually discovered a very wonderful though, or rather it just smacked me in the face that I am master of my own weekends. I can go see a band, which was always one of my favorite things. I can go to a new club, or go out to eat and my favorite place, or go to a rollergirl event and not have to worry about ensuring the hubby has a good time.
There's a few shows coming up that I discovered on a fluke and am TOTALLY overjoyed that I'm able to go! They fall on a weekend and not during a bout and I'm not traveling for work. It's perfect! And as I recently did at the Drive By Truckers show, I'm planning on going by myself. So if you're a big fan of Ministry or Mindless Self Indulgence and live in Seattle, they have some upcoming shows at the Showbox! Drop me a line if you're gonna be there, otherwise I'll be enjoying the show and my newfound freedom.
Jeez - it's FEBRUARY already. I have a new job, an impending divorce and our Rat City Rollergirls season is about ready to kick into high gear (this is my comeback year, btw).
But alas, I haven't had a lot of time. I've managed to clean up after the mess my husband made (started to type after the husband my mess made, which probably could have worked too) and piled the remainder of his junk in a corner so I could continue with my cleansing. I've got a grand plan for downstairs and I'm itching to move forward. But this weekend, RCRG is hosting the Rust Riot tour so I'm volunteering throughout the day, I have a b-day party to go to tonight and Sunday I have to leave for Cali. Monday, i'm attending a cool conference called Customer Service is the New Marketing.
All in all, I haven't had a lot of time to "refresh" myself. But it's a brand new year and I'm definitely looking forward to it.
